Reception counter and hanging garments in a calm laundry boutique

About

A family laundry for over fifty years.

Textile experts by experience

We only started counting from the late 1960s, but laundry has been in the family longer still. What began as a small wash house near Delft’s canals grew into Stoomerij Gracht — a dry cleaner and laundry known for careful handling of every fabric.

Today our team works with modern equipment five days a week. Cleaning textiles remains our main activity, whether the piece is a tailored jacket or a week’s household wash.

Along the way

Milestones that shaped how we work on Choorstraat today.

1960s

The first family wash salon opens in South Holland, learning the rhythms of neighbourhood laundry and careful finishing.

1970s–1990s

The workshop expands with dry cleaning and pressing, serving Delft households that need more than a simple wash.

2000s

Newer machines arrive — better programmes, gentler solvents, and clearer separation of wet and dry processes.

Today

Stoomerij Gracht focuses on high-quality cleaning for clothing and household textiles, with dedicated attention for local businesses and hospitality.

People and environment

We choose programmes and chemistry with fibre longevity in mind, and we run our workshop with respect for staff and surroundings. Good textile care means fewer replacements and garments that stay in use longer.
